Over the last century or more, there have been a number of major fires that occurred in Edgerton and Milton. One of the worst fires destroyed the Carlton Hotel (pictured on left, top), which was built as a luxury hotel for the tobacco businessmen who traveled from the east coast to Edgerton in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
