MAJOR FIRES

Over the last century or more, there have been a number of major fires that occurred in Edgerton and Milton. One of the worst fires destroyed the Carlton Hotel (pictured on left, top), which was built as a luxury hotel for the tobacco businessmen who traveled from the east coast to Edgerton in the late 1800s and early 1900s.  It was considered the crown jewel of Edgerton when it opened in January 1898. Click on an incident listed below to view images and articles about that fire.
